District Councilors of Soroti district have vowed to improve service delivery in their communities.

District Councilors of Soroti district have vowed to improve service delivery in their communities. This after attending a two-day induction organized by Soroti district local government held over the weekend. Most of the councilors are first timers in the council, and this was prudent for to undergo an induction training to equip them with responsibilities and roles.

Some of the topics they learnt include; The Structure of Laws in Uganda, Overview of Decentralization and the LGA CAP 243. Negotiating a Leadership Mandate in Soroti LG, The Due Process in LGs. How a Councilor prepares for a Council Meeting, Motions, Questions and Petitions in Council.

Overview of the Standard Rules of Procedure for LG and Local Economic Development in LGs among other. A number say they have learnt a lot they have not been knowing, promising to use the knowledge acquired to cause change in the way they handle council issues and also development of the community.

They were trained by the renowned facilitators Joshua Okebe Onya an expert and consultant in Governance and Andrew Odongo also a consultant in Governance working with Government Link. The two-day training held at Soroti medical center was organized by Soroti District Local Government.
