DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON SOROTI DISTRICT DEMANDS MORE FROM TEACHERS

Ongoing Consultative Meeting of Head Teachers and Teachers of Tubur Sub county with the District Chairperson Soroti, Hon Simon Peter Edoru Ekuu.

The purpose of the meeting is aimed at sharing with the teachers on how to improve the academia and quality performance in schools.

The meeting which is under way in Tubur Community Hall is for all government aided Primary Schools and also the Community schools in the Sub county.

The office of district Chairperson together with the Education Department are spearheading the campagin moving through out all the Primary Schools of Soroti District to consult, share the achievements and Challenges that affects Child performance so as to forge a way forward thus improving the academic performance in schools.

Already the team, has covered the areas of Gweri, Arapai, Asuret, Kamuda and now Tubur.

In his opening remarks, the District Chairperson, stressed the need for the education department develop a strategies that can be implemented by all stakeholders so as to spur Academic performance in schools.

He said the district has not been performing well in the PLE results, a thing he says it calls for efforts by all stakeholders.

" I have a thinking that if we work together as a team,and accept that there is a problem affecting the quality performance of our children and realise that we have a duty to correct the problem, then Soroti district would definitely return to it's glorious day of producing quality performance in schools", he said.

Hon. Tino Rose, in her remarks thanked teachers for being passionate of their work, " Teachers you are doing a great work despite the challenges that you face, however more efforts is needed for us to improve the performance in our school, today we have come to share with you the critical challenges affecting you as a teacher that has made the performance low,".

Tino also called for Unity amongst the teachers as they do their work, saying when we are united I believe we can improve the performance of our children.

Meanwhile, the Senior Education Officer, Jennifer Ilenyot, asked the teachers to love their work, " the district has done it's part of recruiting you now you part is to deliver results as expected of you,".

" Today as your line department,we have come to you and share with you one on one on challenges, and what you think can be done to address such challenges affecting the quality performance in our schools," She said.

Ilenyot tasked Headteachers to be accountable of the not only performance but also the their subordinate, " My Head teachers, can you be passionate and care of your teachers because, we have discovered that some of you even don't greet your fellow subordinates, and yet this one way you can motivate your staff,".
