SOROTI DISTRICT STARTS THE IMPLEMENTATION THE UGX 1 BILLION, ROAD REHABILITATION GOVERNMENT GRANT. 

 

There was excitement in Kamuda sub county in Soroti district as the authorities launched the rehabilitation and maintenance works on Kamuda, -Lalle- Ocokican road in the implementation of the Ugx 1-billion-shilling Government Grant.

The 18.2 kilometers road connects the areas of Aminit, Lalle, Gwetom, Agora, Abango and Ojama and to the central business area of Soroti city

Dozens of visibly excited locals gathered at Abango trading center to welcome the leaders of Soroti district led by the DISO Olyet John and the District chairperson Edoru Simon Peter Ekuu  as they launched the works.

Soroti district chairperson revealed that the maintenance of the road was long overdue and revealed that the area has been cut off from the rest of the district and struggling to access basic services such as health facilities among others.

He added that he is optimistic that the works with ease the transportation of the produce to the market. 

 

While officiating the launch the Chief Guest the Soroti District Internal Security Officer, John Olyet revealed that the government is committed to ensuring that accessibility is improved in the entire country so that the services can reach them on time.

Olyet also asked locals to always supplement government efforts by opening trenches so that the rain water does not destroy the roads.

The Soroti district communications officer, Abraham Ekwaru says this part of the implementation of the Ugx 1 billion shillings that the central  govern ment sent to district under the road maintenance and rehabilitation grant
